The Women at Queen Mary commemorative book is now available. Click here to download the order form.

Women at Queen Mary tells the story of women at the College through the generations from 1850 to the present day. It reveals a fascinating history of women in higher education in the UK, from the struggle to gain access to study and the fight to learn on equal terms as men, to the academic and cultural contributions which these women have made and the inspiration they have provided to younger generations of female students.

This commemorative volume expands upon the material presented at the Women at Queen Mary Exhibition which was held in the Octagon during 2007-08. It contains profiles of some 50 "Featured Women" and a wide range of images including photographs, manuscripts, student magazines and other materials from the College archives and beyond. The book will be of interest for further research on the College's history, the history of women in higher education and the local history of London's East End.

The book is sold in aid of the Queen Mary, University of London Foundation. Proceeds from book sales will support the Foundation which was established in 2006 to help advance the work of Queen Mary by raising philanthropic income. The Foundation's primary objectives are to provide gifted young people in financial need with access to a world-class education; to improve the educational, cultural and research facilities and amenities provided by the College; and to develop Queen Mary's work in the community and also to enhance its international reputation.
